Itinerary
Friday 5.10.2012
Meeting the tour leader at 13.50 in Helsinki airport. Flight at 15.50 to Kiev arriving at 17.50. Transfer to Ukraine hotel for overnight and dinner.
Saturday 6.10.2012 Breakfast. City tour including Kiev- Petscherski cave monastery, Sophia cathedral and Mihailovski monastery. Walk in the old town of Podil where lunch. Tour ends at Chernobyö museum where guided tour. At 19.35 train to Simferopol at Crimea. Overnight in double cabins.
Sunday 7.10.2012 In the train possible to have morning tea or coffee. At 11.00 after arrival at Simferopol , where breakfast and a tour in the town including StLuke church. Transfer to Bahchisarai where guided tour in the castle founded in the 13th century while Tatars conquered Ukraine. In the castle there is the famous fountain, which was the theme of Pushkin Ballet "Bahchisarai Fountain." Bahchisarai was the capital of Crimean Khan until Empress Catherine conquered it. From the castle we continue to Uspenski monastery which was founded in the 16th century but porobably there were monks already in the 7th century. The monastery is inside the rock where the first church was built for the honour of the appereance of Our Lady. From the monastery we walk to Cufut Cale cave town which were settled by Tatars and Kariate Jews. After lunch break drive to Simferopol for overnight at Delfin hotel. Dinner.
Monday 8.10.2012 After breakfast guided tour in Hersones which was conquered by the Greeks in the 6th century. They built here own Byzantine settlement. After Hersones city tour in Sevastopol ending at lunch break in the city center. Drive to Jalta where the first stop is St Clemence monastery in Inkerman. St Clemens was a missionary who came to Crimea in the 4th century and spoke to people about Christianity. But the local people drowned him to Black Sea . In the 6th century w St Kirill and Methodios found the relics and brought them to Rome. The following stops are Foros church up in the mountain, Voronetz and Livadia castles, where Jalta Conference wad held in 1945. Overnight at Palas hotel in Jalta. Dinner.
Tuesday 9.10.2012 This is a free day. Dinner at the hotel.
Wednesday 10.10.2012 After breakfast it is possible to make a tour to Feodosia, where on the way there are Kokktabel and Novyi Svet wine yards. In Feodosia there is a famous home museum of the painter Aivasovsky. Dinner at the hotel.
Thursday 11.10.2012 After brekfast depart for Simferopol. On the way visit Pescera caves. In Simferopol lunch and depart at 16.45 by train to Kiev.
Friday 12.10.2012 After arrival at Simferopol breakfast. Transfer to the airport. At 12.55 flight to Helsinki arriving at 15.00.
