Hotels
Kinnerma villge is locating arounnd 10 km from the main road in the region called Prääzä. There are old Karelian buildings and houses in this village including such an archaeological pearl, an old orthodox chapel from 18th century dedicated to Smolensky Our Lady. Many of these buildings have been constructed by the help of international project. The village has the status of archaeological and historical reserve. There is a cultural center in Volkov´s house where are many exhibitions.
Hotel Severnaja locates in down town of Petrozavodsk in the street of Lenin. There are 180 rooms in hte hotel, 50 double and 40 single rooms with toilets and shower in rooms. The rooms are in the 2nd and 3rd floors and there is no lift at the hotel. In the first floor there are restaurant, bar, bank automat, hair dresser and in the 2nd there are café and souvenir shop. Hotel has been sold to a privtae owners and there might be some changes until the summer.
Hotel Staraja Sloboda was built beside the monastery of St Aleksander Svirski. There is so called old part in the hotel built 10 years ago and the new one, which was constructed i n 2011. There are single, double and triple rooms in the hotel. In the new part bathrooms are in the rooms.
Hotel Olonga in Olonez was built in 1980´s in the center of the town and in last three, fours years there have been made construction works in the restaurant, reception hall and in part of the rooms. There are 17 double and 6 single rooms in the third floor and there is no lift in the hotel. In the first floor there are restaurant and bar, meeting room and sauna. http://intourist.onego.ru
Program
Wednesday 25.7.2012 At 10.00 depart from Joensuu in the main bus station near railway station and drive to Kitee railway station. Train from Helsinki arrives at 11.08. Drive to Niirala-Värtsilä border station where passport control. Coffee break after the border in a café. On the way there are stops in Ruskeala and Pitkäranta war memorial The Cross of Sorrow before getting to Kinnerma for overnight, traditional sauna and dinner.
Thursday 26.7.2012 After breakfast tour in the village visiting Smolensky chapel, musuem and a small handicraft shop. Drive to Petrozavodsk, where is possible to get the boat at 13.00 to Kizhi or just stay in the city for free time. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Friday 27.7.2012 Breakfast. Depart for Karelian villages and monasteries. First stop is after 1,5 hour drive in Vasojärvi monastery, where guided tour. Drive to Utjärvi Karelian village, where soup lunch and visit the cemetery and old chapel of the village as well as meeeting local people there. Drive via Säntämä convent to Olonez overnight and dinner.
Saturday 28.7.2012 Breakfast. Free mornign in Olonetz. In the afternoon drive to Alavoinen village where lunch in Karelian family. From alavoinen drive to St Aleksander Svirski monastery where the vigil for ther honour of finding the relics Saint. After a tour in the monastery and drive to Olonez for overnight.
Sunday 29.7.2012 After breakfast depart via Karelian villages for Finland. The route goes via the villages of Vitele and Salmi to Värtsilä. Stop in shops in the border and drive via Kitee railweay station to Joensuu. From Kitee connection train to Helsinki depart at 18.50.
