Hotels
Hotel Olonga in Olonez was built in 1980´s in the center of the town and in last three, fours years there have been made construction works in the restaurant, reception hall and in part of the rooms. There are 17 double and 6 single rooms in the third floor and there is no lift in the hotel. In the first floor there are restaurant and bar, meeting room and sauna. http://intourist.onego.ru
Hotel Severnaja locates in down town of Petrozavodsk in the street of Lenin. There are 180 rooms in hte hotel, 50 double and 40 single rooms with toilets and shower in rooms. The rooms are in the 2nd and 3rd floors and there is no lift at the hotel. In the first floor there are restaurant, bar, bank automat, hair dresser and in the 2nd there are café and souvenir shop. Hotel has been sold to a privtae owners and there might be some changes until the summer.
Itinerary
Thursday 29.7.2010 At 7.00 depart from Joensuu in the main bus station near railway station. At 8.00 arrive at Niirala-Värtsilä border station where passport control. Coffee break after the border in a café. On the way there are stops in Pitkäranta orthodox church, Salmi village and Rajakontu, the old Finnish border. Around 18.00 arrive at Alavoinen village where dinner in a local Karelian family. In the evening arrive at Olonez where checking in at Olonga -hotel.
Friday 30.7.2010 After breakfast depart for Aleksander Svirski monastery where guided tour in the churches of Holy Trinity, Transfiguration and St Aleksander Svirski. Drive back to Olonez and after making some shopping drive to Nurmoila village and Säntämä convent. Further drive to Utjärvi Karelian village where lunch break with local people and visit the old cemetry church. After Utjärvi drive to Vasojärvi monastery where guided tour and to Petrozavodsk where after checking in at Pohjola hotel dinner in the restuarant.
Saturday 31.7.2010 After breakfast those who have booked a tour to Kizhi will be transferred to the harbor where hydrofoil to Kizhi at 9.00. At Kizhi there is a guided tour in the museum visiting the old churches, farm houses and chapels. It is possible to listen famous church bell ringing of Kizhi. In the afternoon hydrofoil back to Petrozavodsk, where guided tour in the city and free time for shopping. At 19.00 walk to the restaurant where Russian evening with good meal and folk music.
Sunday 1.8.2010
After breakfast depart via Karelian villages for Finland. The route goes via the villages of Prääzä, Manga, Palalahti, Kolatselkä and Läskelä to Värtsilä. Stop in Kinnermäki village where possible to have lunch. Passport control in Värtsilä and arrive around 20.00 to Joensuu.
